The Indie:

Austin, Texas

Located in East Austin, the Indie is a development that embraces the rich local art and food scene. The project features a large communal area that flows from the inside of the lobby into the intimate outdoor courtyard. The courtyard features fire pits, outdoor seating and outdoor TV stations. The design maximized the use of a small site that includes 108 below grade parking spots and 139 micro-units. The development sets the stage for the possibility of a car-free lifestyle. The local residential population embraces walking, biking, light rail and ridesharing as alternatives to traditional car ownership.
